Evaluating the performance of services and professionals
Analysis and reflection are at the heart of modern clinical practice. From an organisational perspective, clinical services must be monitored to ensure they are safe, efficient and providing high quality care. Meanwhile, the introduction of revalidation by the GMC requires doctors to reflect on how to develop their clinical and non-clinical skills to ensure they are fit to practise.
Clinical service reviews
Our associates bring their proven analytical skills and rigorous approach to these important projects which inform local decision-making and ensure services meet the needs of patients.
From the outset, we work closely with senior clinicians and managers to develop a clear and robust methodology which complies with ethical standards. Our familiarity with the different tools available to evaluate services means we can advise you how to use these to best effect. We also have extensive experience of conducting interviews with staff and patients and reviewing masses of clinical data.
Finally, we appreciate that the outcome of a clinical service review has the potential to affect the lives of thousands of patients so our recommendations are always carefully considered and supported by the evidence.
Our revalidation support programme
It’s natural for doctors to be anxious about the appraisal and revalidation process but effective preparation can make a real difference. To help you support the clinicians in your organisation we can provide tailored professional development throughout their revalidation cycle.
The programme gives doctors the tools to analyse and reflect on their own performance, from making sense of 360° feedback to providing constructive comment on non-clinical skills, such as communication and teamwork. We then help participants draw up a personal development plan and provide opportunities for them to address weaknesses with educational workshops, coaching and mentoring.
As a result, they can focus on meeting the GMC’s requirements and help ensure they are ready to revalidate when the time comes.
I also found the experience of the “diagnostics” helpful and positive and I could definitely take something personal away from it, positive rather than negative.
